Jeezy

Jeezy’s fighting with Wayne for the WLotD crown.  The Recession is really gonna put the pressure back on Wayne to raise his wackness to the next level.  Truly, a clash for the ages.  Today’s:

“Stuntin’ on Martin Luther, feelin’ just like a King/
Guess this is what he meant when he said that he had a dream”
–Young Jeezy, “My President Is Black”

Yeah, that’s funny actually.  That’s exactly what he meant.  Guess Jeezy never saw “Return of the King.”

I’ve got to say, I think you’re a bit too hard on Jeezy. Can he rap? Nope. But I don’t think that’s the point. It’s the feeling. I almost always agree with your opinions (Reks = dope, Kardinal = dope, Wayne = overrated, etc.), but here I must differ. Jeezy’s beat selection is impeccable, his hooks are crazy catchy – “My Lambo’s blue…” – and his first album is classic material, imo.

Word up, you’re definitely entitled to that opinion man, but I just personally can’t vibe with Jeezy. I know a lot of people who have similar tastes as I do actually really dig him, but I can’t get down with his whole “motivational” music/”i’m not a rapper, i’m a hustler” steez. He does have a good ear for beats, but his content is super generic and he can’t rap for shit. He comes off as real corny to me. I’m sure people will love “The Recession” though, it’s got a lot of buzz on the net. Nothing off it aside from Kanye and Nas’ appearances have impressed me so far though.

well, i was always afraid the south was gonna be what blows it for barack obama, but i never thought it would be the BLACK SOUTH lol….
between this crap and ludacris’s cover blowing song for big O i wonder if barack is on the phone with them going “stfu! do NOT f$% this up for me!” lol
jeezy isn’t the most lyrical rapper but his delivery is something alot of the more lyrical ones lack to be more apealing. the “YEAAAAAAAHHHH” and bully from the simpsons “hahaaaaa!” are crucial to a good jeezy song.
so much so that kanye used jeezy’s adlibs on a song that otherwise didn’t even include jeezy that should say something.

this is almost as bad as Wayne’s MLK line:

“And you know what they say/
    When you’re great it’s not murder it’s assassinate/
    So assassinate me, bitch!/
Cause I’m doing the same shit Martin Luther King did/
Checkin in the same hotel, in the same suite bitch same balcony/
    Like assassinate me bitch!”

I dig it all. Barack doesn’t need any more rappers frightening Middle America voters (which is silly, but reality), Wayne’s MLK stanza is just weird and I’m not a fan of the “I’m Not A Rapper,” motto either. Hip-hop’s got something for everybody, though. Still, @ the end of the day, I do think Jeezy is more intelligent and strategic than he gets credit for.

smh @ that Wayne ish. I wasn’t even thinking about how this song would affect Obama…but I don’t think it will get anywhere near the play that Luda’s got. Jeezy’s just not on that popularity level, especially in the media world.

Jeezy definitely got a good business plan and all that, but he’s just not my cup of tea. The WLotD’s are just for fun, so I don’t take ‘em too seriously. Jeezy just drops so many wack lines, I enjoy calling em out.
