Sound Session #339 (12-4-11)

As I mentioned last week, Wale came through SNSS for a quick chat about his Ambition album, his fans, sports, and more.  Be sure to check out the video of our interview right here.

Now that that bit of shameless self-promotion is out the way, on to the 2nd bit of shameless self-promotion!  On this week’s episode, peep some new music from artists like M.O.P., Childish Gambino, Drake, OnCue, The Roots, Amy Winehouse, Murs, Rittz, The Kid Daytona, and more.  Danny! also called in to talk about his upcoming project on Interscope and the inspiration behind one of my favorite records out right now, “I Don’t Wanna Hear That Sh*t.”  Be on the lookout for Payback early next year!

His music is most definitely hip hop at it’s finest; great lyrics and chill ass beats, you just can’t go wrong with any track you skip to on his Black Everyday EP. Just weeks prior to dropping Black Everyday, he released To The Death EP, both EP’s are about 5-6 tracks long. I feel like he grouped these well, with To The Death having a bit more of a dark feel, still on that authentic hip hop feel though. I’d recommend downloading both to add to your collection of great local music on your ipod. Just this past Sunday, The Truth, from To The Death EP, was debuted on the radio on Kube 93‘s Sunday Sound Session.
