Visually, I’m not sure the video is up to par with “I’ll Be In The Sky,” or as creative as “Autotune,” but can you really go wrong when you just cast a million cute girls? Nope! I’m really glad this record is proving to be Bobby Ray’s first hit. We played it early on Sound Session and to see it get added to rotation on stations across the country is a beautiful thing.
It’s almost crazy to think that B.o.B hasn’t even dropped an official album yet. Fortunately that day is just a few months away, and until then we have this to hold us over. Alongside DJ Drama & DJ Sense he gives us the May25th mixtape. With guest appearances by J. Cole, fellow ‘09 classmate Asher Roth, and more as well as production by Alchemist and Kanye this tape is sure to get a few plays on your iTunes.

Bobby Ray flips the classic Tribe track for his edition of the Reebok Classic series and absolutely murders the hook. Super catchy. Shout to the Cornerstone folks, B Rich, Tre, and TJ…dope job fellas.
I’ve been waiting for this mixtape for a minute, and not only did it drop, but TJ, B Rich, Bobby Ray, Tre, and the crew released it in the always clutch “No DJ” format. It pains me as a DJ to say this, but 99% of time when a DJ is involved with a project with new material these days, it’s a detriment. If you really want a DJ on your tape, just have him (or her…hi ladies) mix it cohesively and don’t let them get on the mic. You can download my old tape with Amen if you’re curious to see how a DJ can actually help the project. Shocking, I know.
Anyway, enough ranting. Peep B.o.B’s new tape where he continues to bend genres and explore his Bobby Ray side. This dude might be the most musically gifted of all the ‘new’ MC’s and he’s certainly one of my favorite artists right now.

Fresh off releasing the dope video for “I’ll Be In The Sky” (currently my jam), Bobby Ray is back with some more visuals for “Lonely People.” All my fellow antisocial folks out there understand how this jawn sums up why I always turn down those offers to hit the clubs. No thanks, I’m goooood.

While chilling at the Inverse show last night, a few of the homies reminded me that I haven’t been posting much on TAOD. My bad y’all, but my time is stretched so tight that it’s tough to handle all the biz and also [Unk] blog it out [/Unk] consistently. Also, to be blunt, there wasn’t a whole lot of stuff that I saw this past week that seemed dope enough to post.
However, this new video from B.o.B. was one notable exception. “I’ll Be In The Sky” is one of my favorite joints of the past year or so and I really hope programmers realize how catchy the hook is. I would love to see a joint like this catch on, because if you pay attention to the verses, Bobby Ray is actually speaking on some real ish. Look out for cameos from Playboy Tre and B. Rich, and then be sure to peep the interview I did with all three from a little while back.
Be sure to tune in to Sound Session tonight. I’ll have a whole bunch of new music plus the Inverse homies will be live in studio…
I’ve been doing a radio show a week for damn near 10 years, but yet, somehow I’ve never been bored during any one of those shows. With J out of town on vacation and no guests coming through SNSS live, this was one of the first shows in a minute where I was alone in the studio. My worries that boredom would ensue were soon alleviated when I remembered why I love this gig. I’m all by myself…in a soundproof room…playing music that I love as loud as possible. You can just vibe and rock out to it. Doesn’t get much better than that.
