The Audacity of Dope

Yes, I’m late posting this video.  No, I don’t care.

Recently, I’ve been playing this Miike Snow album non-stop and it’s really impressive.  I seem to be on a “white guy singing, possibly with a foreign accent or falsetto of sorts, about semi depressing, ethereal topics” kick.  *Kanye shrug*…sue me.  I’m sure I’ll get back into my backpack hip-hop mindset soon, but for now, enjoy some different ish.

Shout to my man Soul Supreme at Potholes In My Blog for giving me the heads up on the Mark Ronson “Animal” remix.  We rocked this on Sound Session a few times and I’m a sucker for anything dub related.

I don’t know the back story behind it, but this is crazy.  “Comprised using chords, bass notes, and vocal samples” from one of the best films of ‘09, Up.

Sidenote, just saw Up In The Air, which was fantastic as well.  Next up is Avatar, but I need to wait until the furor around the 3D IMAX shows dies down a bit…

My favorite track of the month is easily Mayer Hawthorne’s remix of James Pants’ “Thin Moon,” and the fine folks at Stones Throw have given me the go-ahead to post it up for y’all.

For those who aren’t aware, the talent in Seattle is crazy right now.  One of my favorite releases of the year, local or national, was Fresh Espresso’s Glamour, and Rik Rude & P-Smoov just enlisted Grynch, Macklemore, and Gatsby for the remix.  Video by Stephan Gray.  Bananas.

Awww yeah, the homegirl Chok just dropped the video for 2 joints off her new album, To Whom It May Concern.  Trust when I tell you that not only is she one of the most talented singers in our lovely city, but she’s right there at the top of the pack nationally.  People are starting to catch on, so hop on the bandwagon before you’re too late!

Also, you may remember the Vitamin D “Suns Out” beat from our Cornerstone Mixtape where Thig Natural of the Physics ripped a little freestyle intro.  Have you downloaded the tape yet?

The homey Cook Classics is clearly one of the dopest up and coming producers in the game and here’s his latest production: a remix to John & Andre’s insta-classic, “Green Light.”  I had a chance to help make this remix happen and I couldn’t be prouder of the result.  Shout to Joel van Dijk on the guitar and Joe Gonzales on the bass as well…everyone killed it.
