Lace Cadence – Stop & Go (video)

Posted in Artists, Music Videos on August 24th, 2011 by Hyphen

Another video from the homies Lace Cadence and director Jon Augustavo off The Launchpad mixtape that J. Moore and I hosted a while back.  If you haven’t downloaded it, grab it now while we still have some summer days left!

Extra props to Jon Jon for getting his old Nick The Quick jersey in another video.  I expect this to be a running trend continued for years to come.

Lace Cadence – Moonlight (video)

Posted in Artists, Music Videos on September 8th, 2010 by Hyphen

The homies Lace Cadence and Jon Augustavo have teamed up for the lead video from Lace’s recent mixtape, Launchpad.  If you’re still sleeping, be sure to download it right here.  Dope music and hosted by J. Moore and myself…what are you waiting for?

Oh, and man, it must be a tough gig filming a video with the beautiful Isabella Du Graf.  Jon Jon couldn’t have screwed this video up if he tried.  But on the real, I hear she has some dope records too…be on the lookout.

Lace Cadence – Launchpad (mixtape)

Posted in Artists, Mixtapes on August 18th, 2010 by Hyphen

It’s been a long time coming, but the homey Lace Cadence of Clockwork has officially released his first solo project, coming in the form of the Launchpad mixtape.  If you’re familiar with Clockwork, then you know a bit of what to expect, but this builds off the group’s sound and takes it to a new place altogether.  I had a nice discussion with Lace about where he’s at musically these days and I couldn’t be prouder of dude.  In essence, he’s a grown ass man and he’s going to make the music he wants to make, without compromise.  He’s shown elements of this style throughout his career, but he really owned it on these records.  As an artist, that’s where you want to be.

I’m also happy to add that J. Moore and I hosted the tape, while DJ B-Mello mixed the project from front to back (sound familiar?).  It was a great process all around, so big shouts to Lace, Frank, Blastoff Productions, Producer L, and everyone involved with Launchpad.  Hope y’all enjoy the tape as much as we enjoyed putting it together.

Download here.

Sound Session #272 (8-15-10)

Posted in Episodes, Sound Session on August 18th, 2010 by Hyphen

Apologies for the delay on this week’s show, but you know how it goes.  Peep this week’s show to hear great music (as always) and the homey Lace Cadence joining us to debut “Moonlight” off his brand new mixtape.  J. Moore and I hosted the tape, while it was mixed by DJ B-Mello.  Sound familiar?  Cop Lace’s tape for the free right here –

Super duper big time shout to Aloe Blacc coming through the studio this past week to bless us with an exclusive performance of his “Politician” record.  If you aren’t aware, Aloe has been a dope MC for years but in the last few, he’s started to branch out and really illustrate his musical genius.  His new project, Good Things, is, simply put, incredible.  It’s one of the best albums of the year and a throwback to when soul music not only sounded great, but also pushed buttons in society.  Nowhere is this more evident with “Politician,” a track that only appears as an instrumental reprise on the album.

In studio, Aloe murdered this in one take.  I highly recommend you peep it right here
