Here’s the first official leak from Free & Jake’s Stimulus Package album dropping 2 days after my birthday in February. Pretty straightforward joint, but a dope ass beat plus dope rhymes…[Phonte] what more do y’all want? [/Tay]
The long awaited video for one of the best tracks of the year just hit the net and I think it’s safe to say that the Clipse are officially killing it right now. Aside from “All Eyes On Me” with Keri Hilson, every joint that’s leaked from Till The Casket Drops has been flames. If you missed Pusha and Malice talk about this record on Sound Session recently, peep the back story:
Has anyone asked Pusha about that rather potent shot at Lebron and apparently sharing a groupie? Normally, the tabloid stuff is just that, but it sounds like there’s some truth to this one and it’s a little personal. Either way, hilarious. Pusha’s flow is disgustingly ill on that first verse too.
New Rik Cordero visuals for the DJ Khalil produced lead single from Joe Budden, Royce The 5′9″, Joell Ortiz, and Crooked I, aka Slaughterhouse. Sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll hip-hop.
The long awaited visuals for Wale’s lead single have finally leaked and I think the clip came out pretty nice. Definitely crisp and I dig the track, though the blatant M.I.A. swagger jacking from GaGa’s hook still seems a little weird to me. I’m sure Cool & Dre or someone ran it by M.I.A., but I’d be curious to hear what she feels about the hook.
Anyway, hopefully this single will catch on and Wale can join the ranks of Asher, Cudi, and Drake as the only new cats to actually get a crossover hit. One of my old workplaces, KIIS in LA, has already added it so that’s a great sign.
Here’s another new video from Wale and Rik Cordero for “Family Affair” while we’re at it:
Seattle folks: Wale will be performing at Bumbershoot this year…don’t miss it…
“A few new stations, put me in rotation/
They’ve embraced the martian, congratulations”
Well, more than a few stations are finally on board with the Kid Cudi movement and “Day N Nite” is skyrocketing up the chart. Aside from ‘Ye and the always ill Miss Janelle Monae, Cudi was pretty much the star of SXSW, getting mobbed everywhere and packing out show after show. Let’s just say there were plenty of Cudi Buddies ready and willing for the man.
Hit the jump to see Cons and Cudi perform this track live at ‘Ye’s showcase in Austin.
Have Royce and Premier ever combined for a bad, or even mediocre, song? Nope! This is another banger, though I think it might be the first collaboration of theirs without the signature Preem cuts in the hook. No matter, it’s still a great beat and Royce kills it with some more introspective lyrics that remind me of his Death Is Certain days. Shout to Rik Cordero for yet another dope video too.
Chyea, the long awaited visuals for “The Truth” video have finally arrived. Jake + Free + Ali + Rik Cordero = dope. Have you copped White Van Music yet?
Rik Cordero and the team at Three/21 Films connected with Q-Tip for another video off his new album, The Renaissance, which is in stores now. I need to listen to the full project, cause everything I’ve heard so far has been pretty dope. Be on the lookout for the next Cordero/Tip collab for “Manwomanboogie” dropping soon…
New J-to-the-muah visuals for “Who Run This,” directed by Rik Cordero. Jada should be coming through the studio tomorrow…anything y’all want me to ask him?
New video for Tip’s “Move,” directed by the uber-busy Rik Cordero. So let me get this straight: by filming a simple clip based on a style 25 years old (“I wanna rock with youuuuuu”), Rik and Tip made a better video than 95% of what rappers are dropping? Artists on majors need to step their game up and try something different, even if it’s a nod to the past like “Move.” Good ish.
