I’m so glad to see the rest of the country is starting to catch on to what Canadians (and TAOD readers/SNSS listeners) have known for years: Shad is one of the illest MC’s out there. In fact, I dare you to find a better MC who speaks on more realness than Shad K. The Tanya Morgan homies, Von Pea & Donwill, hopped on the remix to “Rose Garden,” which also features a new verse from Shad. Remember, the US version of T.S.O.L. drops on October 5th…enjoy!
Shad ft. Von Pea & Donwill – “Rose Garden (Remix)”
And of course, the original video, in case you missed it:
Seattle people: I’m going to see you at Nectar on Friday, October 8th for K-Os and Shad…right?

Lyrics:
(I don’t like to start verses with “I” you know but um…)
v-1
Well theres no I in team
But theres a I in win
And every guy wanna win
So folks is eyein him
The I in pride
They say pride puts the I in sin
Puts self at the centre
“I and I” come in
Cuz I am imperfect
None of us is ron men
Pls be my 3rd eye
When the light gets dim
Even my story’s not mine
Where do I begin?
Not with I, Im reminded
See the I in him – 8
In my enemy especially
Him and I are twins
gotta love him as I love I
Him and I are kin
Take the thing
Out my own eye
Then See if the word is where world
begin
then at the end of the word
Friend is where I end
And all men become I, and I them
So Who am I then?
Just dust in the wind
With a pen and a grin
im goin in
you goin in?
im goin in like yes
chorus-
we all in agreement
if you hear the song and you feel it
put your palms to the ceiling like yes
(x2)
v-2
what can I say for myself?
Where im at aint where I stationed myself
So im grateful I do okay for myself
I wanna do better for yall
Im afraid of myself
God said you trust me
Now have some faith in yourself
when I made my first record
I would say to myself
Im glad to share this
I don’t wanna just play for myself
The thing with rappin is
it helps me get away from myself
And put these thoughts and feelings out
So they don’t stay on the shelf
stay in my soul
cuz I find
The more I stay to myself
the less I find the real me
the more i
stray from myself
and cant to relate to no else
I don’t have to
make a way for myself
but make my thoughts
point away
from myself
and what else…
chorus
v-3
We are
Greater than the sum of us
All greater than some of us
Greater than each piece or part
We are a body
An army
greater than
any single art piece
And love in our hearts
We are who we are
Behind doors
In secret, In our deep depths
And recesses
We arent free yet
We are how we treat
Our sick folks and widows
The rich with broken hearts
The Broke and the crippled
The soul that’s weak
And we arent what we eat
We are what comes out
Of our mouths
When we speak
Most of yall don’t
speak truth
ya cant play me
Playboy
Im no kid
I don’t play wi
we are parents
cherished
Proud and embarrassed
Weve come a long way
but we’re still not there yet
and we don’t always get along
me myself and i
when we do
we in tune like the song singin…
chorus
Are you kidding me? Super dope.
I like to think about, all the fun we had.
Up on a cloud, never thought we would fall,
Back to the world. Gravity, pulled us down,
Then it tore us apart, why can’t things, turn out,
Like you wanted?
I never want to take away from you.
I feel like you’re flying and I’m weighing you down.
You should be free, to be,
But for now, maybe the second time around,
Will be sweeter.
Oh think it over, think it over. Oh think it over, think it over.
Thought we was gonna be forever.
Like King and Coretta, I thought we could change the world,
But I needed air. I stepped out, on the balcony,
And the world took me out.
But you know I’ll always have a thing for you,
And if I deny it, I’ll be lying to myself.
I pick up the phone, put it down,
But I’ve been asking around,
And I hear you’re doing better now.
Oh think it over, think it over. Oh think it over, think it over.
My favorite song out right now. Buy Bilal‘s new album, Air Tight’s Revenge, and support good music!
Get ready.
When I first heard that Jon Augustavo was doing the video for Scribes’ “Roll My Way,” I was geeked, cause this has been one of my favorite records from the town in the past few years. In fact, it’s one of my favorite “local” tracks that that we’ve played in Sound Session‘s history, so it’s great to see it get some more shine through dope visuals. I think Scribes is the most underrated MC in Seattle, but hopefully that will start to change as more people hear his music. Dude dropped 3 choruses on the outro of this record alone that are better than 90% of what y’all hear!
Side note: the boy Jon Jon is on a ROLL with the visuals…
Cook links up with Aloe for a dope viral video based on The Warriors off his Recharged project. Illustrations and video by See One.

CAAAAAAAAAN YOUUUUUUU DIGGGGGGGGG ITTTTTTTTT??????

Never Say Never…and better late than never! My apologies for the delay in posting this, especially since I was rocking to it for a minute before it dropped. The homey Outasight is one of the illest up and coming artists in the game, and he continually drops free music for y’all to enjoy. Buy his rookie card now while the price is cheap.

Download here.
New visuals off OU’s Never Say Never mixtape, which I’ll post up momentarily. Shout to OU, 6th, Cook, and all the homies that pop up in this video of his travels over the past year. In related news, I think the man partly responsible for signing Outasight to Warner (through Asylum) just got bumped up to the CEO of WBR today. I hope this means they push Outasight like they should!
