GGR

It’s been a minute since Phonte and Brainchild have graced us with an episode of GGR, but believe me, it’s tough to do radio shows when you’re constantly working on other projects.  In the latest edition, Brainchild kills the mix and Tay waxes poetic about his top 10 “black coffees.”  Check it out:

  1. The Randy Watson Experience “Tic Tac Know!”
  2. The Cool Kids “Delivery Man”
  3. FDR “Puff Puff Pass”
  4. Erykah Badu “The Healer”
  5. Digable Planets “Dial 7 (Axioms Of Creamy Spies)”
  6. Bill Withers “Kissing My Love”
  7. Lloyd Chalmers “I’m Gonna Love You Just A Little Bit More”
  8. Black Milk “Purple Track 6″
  9. Robert Glasper “J Dillalude” (Simon S Extended Edit)
  10. Madlib “Ashby Road”
  11. Nicolay & Kay “Through The Wind”
  12. Georgia Anne Muldrow “Runaway”
  13. Reggie B “It Gets Better”
  14. Houston Independent Spit District “Recess” (feat. Khimmy J)
  15. Towa Tei “Happy” (feat. Viv & Bahamadia)
  16. Mr. Dalvin “Get Mine”

Foreign Exchange on Real Frequency

Posted in Artists, Other Peoples' Interviews on September 24th, 2008 by Hyphen

FE

The homies Phonte and Nicolay called in to Toronto’s Real Frequency to talk with Arcee about their upcoming album, Leave It All Behind.  It’s rare that people get to interview both at the same time, so this was dope to hear.  Along with LIAB, they talked about the other projects they’ve released recently and what’s next on tap.

Check out the discussion on the Real Frequency blog right here and make sure you stay up to date with everything FE on the official site.  Oh, and if you haven’t peeped the sampler, what are you waiting for?

FE Sampler

(I told y’all FE’s artwork is always incredible.)

Tay and Nic blasted out the sampler for their upcoming Leave It All Behind project, so you can finally hear a little of what all the fuss is about.  Believe me though, these teasers don’t do the album justice.  Check out the sampler for now and cop the entire thing on October 7th (digitally) or the 14th (physical copies…with instrumentals!).

Foreign Exchange – Leave It All Behind (sampler)

a. Take Off The Blues
b. All or Nothing
c. Something To Behold (this is my jaaaaam)
d. If This Is Love
e. If She Breaks Your Heart

Remember to peep the official FE blog to stay up to date on everything they’re doing.

Little Brother – Step My Game Up (live)

Posted in Artists, Live Performances, Videos on September 1st, 2008 by Hyphen

As mentioned previously, Little Brother rocked the Key Club in Los Angeles last week and the homegirl Mariko recorded some dope clips of their performance.  Above is the insta-classic, “Step My Game Up” (complete with a hilarious intro from Phonte), and videos of “Lovin’ It,” “Nobody Like Me,” “Extrahard,” and “Sirens” can be found here.  I can’t wait to see LB at Rock The Bells this weekend…

Little Brother rocks Hawaii

Posted in Artists, Live Performances, Videos on August 29th, 2008 by Hyphen

Little Brother

(I was going to embed the video, but Hyph doesn’t do auto-play.  Click the image to watch it.)

The homies Phonte and Big Pooh made their way out to Honolulu for a MySpace sponsored concert recently and the recap just hit the web (swiped from Nah Right).  I’ve only been through Hawaii once, for a 30 minute layover on the way to the Cook Islands, but I’m dying to go back.  I’m sure it’s a blast but I already know that Aitutaki > Hawaii.

Los Angeles People: y’all can catch Little Brother’s excellent live show tonight with the Inverse fam down at the Key Club.  Be there!

Little Inverse

Seattle People: don’t fret, LB will be at Rock The Bells on the 6th…

Foreign Exchange

(click the image)

I simply cannot wait for this. The first one from Tay & Nic, Connected, is a classic and an album I often use to show people the exact kind of hip-hop I love the most. Leave It All Behind is going to pick up right where that left off and take it to new heights. Get ready.

Murs & 9th speak on Sweet Lord (part 1)

Posted in Artists, Other Peoples' Interviews, Videos on August 12th, 2008 by Hyphen

(woah, sneak diss there at the end…yikes.)

Murs, 9th Wonder, and Murs’ hair talk about why you should download Sweet Lord if you haven’t already.  And if you haven’t, why not?  It’s free.  Go grab it here.  Sidenote, has anyone seen an interview where Murs explains his hair?  Seriously, he must have talked about it.  I know people who won’t even check for dude because of it, and I need some funny explanation to placate them.  I might have to ask him about it at Rock The Bells, but really…I don’t want to be that guy.

Courtesy of Always Hustle, who apparently will drop part two tomorrow.
