Is it just me, or is there some sort of acapella renaissance going on these days? I’m not mad at this one at all, though the high synths and accompanying funny faces make this into more of a quirky video than it needed to be. And of course, Shad is a better rapper than you all. Hyph-approved.
This is easily one of my favorite records of 2010, though I much prefer Drake’s original version (download below). I wonder if he has any regrets over giving it to Jamie…though I suppose it depends on the success the single has. Chance are, it’ll be tough to catch on with radio or TV since it’s such a slow, brooding record, but I hope it works.

We played this joint from Noni Spitz & Dae One (collectively known as No One) on the latest episode of Sound Session and folks have been asking me about it since. Very dope record with lyrics that pretty much paint a perfect picture, but if you’re struggling, peep the video to fully understand.

Parker (formerly known as Eclipse), aka one half of the Parker Brothaz, might just have one of my favorite records from the NW here in 2010. We played this joint on SNSS a while back and Tha Bizness have just released some visuals for it this past week. The beauty of this track is the simplicity: dope beat, good hook, and heartfelt rhymes. Shout to Stretch, hope he gets out soon. And shout to my city too, we’re filthy.
