The Audacity of Dope

Here’s a new video for one of the tracks on Rev’s dope new album, King of the Decks.  I’m not sure I would have picked this one for a video, but I think it came out pretty dope.  Oh, this is not for the sensitive.  Slaine gets points for calling out certain buffoonery by name, well done sir.  While perhaps a bit vulgar, the message behind this song is on point (and similar to my favorite joint off the album, “Willie Lynch” w/Styliztik Jones & KB iMean).

This album is in my deck right now (yes, an official copy…you bootleggers) and it’s crazy.  Not only is this one of the best albums of the year, but it’s one of the most important and dopest albums in Seattle history.  Be sure to cop it on October 7th and tune in to Sound Session on the 5th to hear Jake in our studio breaking down the backstories behind every song.

Chyea.  The boys from LA flew out to the Chi and while out there, linked up with the homies from Ruby Hornet for an excellent edition of their “Freestyle In The Park” series.  As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not a huge fan of acapella verses, but wow.  Like, BeYoung, and Mibbs murdered this and actually spit some ish off the dome, which is pretty refreshing these days.  “they say they looooove it.”

Funny, I was just chilling with my new homies Cee, Bekah, and Notion at their hotel bumping some of Blu’s classic Below The Heavens album and I came home to two new videos featuring the man himself.  This dude is one of my top 3 MC’s today, hands down.  Peep the interview with Out Da Box TV and make sure to watch the video right below this post too.  Johnson&Jonson album in stores on the 23rd!

Amen.  As always, Jay Smooth is on point.  Hahaha @ the Full Force part.  To all my friends who are sometimes randomly lumped into this “hipster rap” category, keep making dope music and disregard the attacks.  To all my friends who resent the new wave of hip-hop, do like Jay said and listen to the music.  It’s good.  End of story.

It’s 2008!  Seriously!  I don’t care what your views or policies might be…you could agree with me 100%…but if you can’t use the most vital technological invention of our time, you are not fit to lead the free world.  I’ve heard some Republicans try to say this is a meaningless issue, but it really isn’t.  If you don’t understand how the world conducts business, how people communicate, and how students learn, how can you expect to lead us to the future?  You can’t.  You’ll end up keeping us in the same place and as the rest of the world progresses, we’ll be left further and further behind in every aspect of our society.

It would have been hilarious if he said “nazi” instead of “not see.”  Ok, well maybe just to me.  Anyway, no idea what this is from, but it’s great.  I literally grew up on Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, so Will is one of my all-time favorite people.  Next time I’m at the club (which won’t be soon if you know me), I’m breaking out the MiB dance.  Stop me.

Ever since I saw those In Living Color skits with Jamie Foxx and David Alan Grier reciting “poetry from the hood,” this kind of stuff has been hilarious to me.  Shout to McFly for sending this over.
