Happy birthday ‘Ye!
No, this isn’t super producer Hit-Boy interviewing Jay-Z. Instead, this is Hit…rapping? And it turned out dope! Bink! on production for this record, introducing the producer to the world as a MC. I’m rooting for this kid, but he probably doesn’t need it. With all his success lately, it seems like a foregone conclusion that he’ll be a major player in the game for quite some time.
I’m a little late on the Kid Ink bandwagon, but I’m digging his newest single/video for “Time Of Your Life” (Jennifer Martinez isn’t hurting…at…ALL). I’d love for this to take off at radio and with a recent remix adding Chris Brown and Tyga, his chances are pretty good. Kinda reminds me of some of Drizzy’s melodies during the hook. Not made one bit and looking forward to seeing him open our Summer Jam this weekend at the Gorge.

Wiz connects with the homey Jake One (again…they did multiple records for the Snoop/Wiz project) on “The Grinder” off Taylor Allderdice. A lot of folks have complained Wiz’ label projects but honestly, if he makes more accessible records for the masses and still drops quality mixtapes for the “underground,” then don’t we all win?
If you name your song after the main character in my favorite movie of all time…AND you can rap…the chances are quite good that I’ll post it on TAOD. As I mentioned with his previous set of visuals, my only disappointment with Roddy’s mixtape was that I was hoping for an album over original production. He crushed the verses though.
The title of Sandman’s newest video pretty accurately sums up his whole steez. I’ve always been a big fan of his unique flow, which is on display quite nicely here as well. Dopeness.
Jay and Yeezy are so big, they can’t even get booked for their own music videos these days. At least the fantastic director, Romain Gavras, took a break from making incredible visuals to wack M.I.A. songs to do a clip for a great record. Dopeness.
That said, his best video is still Justice’s “Stress.” Insane:
Nas’ ode to Destiny, and daughters in general, gets the visual treatment in his newest video. Nice message and positive ending aside…best believe I hope I have a son.
Some new artwork/visuals from Sene’s Brooklyknight album, one of the dopest (and sadly slept on) projects of the year. Get familiar with it here.
