The Audacity of Dope

Naledge and Double-O were recently chosen by Reebok to remake Special Ed’s classic, “I Got It Made,” and this is the resulting video.  On first listen, I dig the song and the visuals are fresh as hell.  One of those videos where you can just tell they had a good time making it.

Now if you’ll excuse me, it’s back to packing for SXSW.  Hopefully I’ll get to say what up to the Kidz homies down there (I’m shooting for the Fader Fort at 1pm on Friday).  Should be a crazy week…

88, ‘Ye, and the Decon fam just released the video for “Stay Up,” one of the dopest tracks of the past year in my opinion.  It would weird me out too much to rock that old dude makeup, but it looks like 88 and ‘Ye felt at home as Clifford and Rufus.  The first verse on this reminds me of when ‘Ye was just starting to get his mixtape buzz and spitting hilarious bars all over the place.  Great stuff.

Still sick, so the commentary is at a minimum, but I had to post up the new video from the homey Stan before I crash.  To be honest, I’ve never been a huge fan of this hook, but the verses are so on point and the beat is ill.  These new visuals from Matt Hobbs (same dude who helped with the CunninLynguists’ “Never Come Down” clip) add a fresh touch too.

Umm, yeah…not mad at this…at all.

Musiq just dropped a video for the best track on his new album, and aside from that awfully slow intro, it’s dope.  Once the song drops, it’s just like the good ol’ Musiq sound you’re used to…i.e., not “Radio.”

Everybody seems to be getting down on this instrumental (shout to Drake especially), but this is the first video I’ve seen over it.  Big shout to Brain, Dyme Def, and the whole Soul Gorilla/800LB fam.  Gotta love the Kingdome footage at the end.  206 all day.

Sidenote:  I’m mad busy this week, semi-sick, and will be headed to Oregon this weekend…so blogging might be at a premium for the next few days.  Hold tight…

I always liked this little interlude that acted as a nice homage to Dilla and Dwele decided to make some quick visuals for it.  “Workin’ On It!”

Right on the heels of TiRon’s Ketchup mixtape comes a fresh video for one of the tracks, “3 Drink Minimum,” featuring Ayomari and produced by Sa-Ra.  Remember how I mentioned that the CunninLynguists’ weed song was my jam despite the fact that I’ve never smoked?  Yeah, same thing with this one and drinking basically.

Despite knowing absolutely nothing about the subject matter, the lead joint (no pun) from the CunninLynguists’ upcoming Strange Journey, Vol. One, is one of my favorite tracks out right now.  They just dropped the visuals for it and, as expected, they came out fresh.

Is it strange that I’m a hip-hop dude who has never smoked (anything) once in my life?  Just never had any interest…[Full House moment] I get high on life [/moment].

People have been clamoring for the US version of Cudi’s “Day N Nite” to drop for a minute and it couldn’t happen at a better time.  The UK version with the Crookers remix has him buzzing like crazy overseas, and last time I checked, he was at #53 on the Billboard Hot 100 stateside.  I played the record on the last SNSS and immediately got about 10 calls asking what it was.  Perhaps it’s not as much of a lock as Asher and “I Love College,” but Cudi is next up this year.
