It’s 2:30 in the morning and I just got home from the Wyclef/Kardinal Offishall concert, which still has my ears POUNDING. I’m only posting up this new video for Young Jeezy’s “Put On” for 2 reasons. One, I wanted to show y’all I managed to survive a crazy hectic few days (including our Summer Jam – watch all sorts of recaps here and find me in person for a million behind the scenes stories). Two, Kanye’s verse is really dope. Unfortunately, the first 3 minutes of the song are all Jeezy and filled with more wack lyrics than any other single song performance this year. Look at it like Yin and Yang, if you will.
I’ll have (extensive) interviews with The Game, Kardinal, and Clef coming in the next week, so be on the lookout for those. And to explain the title of this entry, me and the homey Lala registered 71 new voters at Summer Jam, 99% of which will be voting for Obama in the fall. I put onnnnnnnnnnnnnnn…
Spotted this over at the Dopehouse and I had to post it. Once they broke out the Kid ‘n Play, it was a wrap. Is it just me or were those credits kinda long for a short video?

Even though this song is pretty old, it looks like they’re finally putting it out officially and aiming for big things with the video. LOL @ Kanye in this (as with pretty much everything, dude is hilarious). It was a good choice not to let anyone rap after Dre too. I’m not sure why anyone even rhymes on any song he blesses.

Oh, you didn’t know that Hyph gets down with indie rock? Well, you’re right, I don’t really…but I’m trying to learn! There’s too much good music out there to be trapped listening to just hip-hop and R&B. In fact, I’ve been meaning to make a Lykke Li post for like a month now, I’ll get on that soon.
Anyway, I’m posting the new video from the Grand Archives up for 4 reasons. First of all, it’s a dope track from the hometown. Secondly, the legendary Sub Pop Records just had their 20th anniversay over the weekend and I heard it was crazy. Third…alpacas! Lastly, and most importantly, the star of the video is none other than Upendo, aka J. Moore‘s son! So let’s get this straight: before he’s 10 years old, Upendo’s drummed with ?uestlove, told jokes with Dave Chappelle, made beats, released an album as part of Beyond Reality, and now he’s in a video featured on VH1? Wow. Little man is destined for big things.
I played this joint a while back on Sound Session and every time we ran it, people called in to find out who it was. Well now you get some visuals to answer all your questions. LOL @ the Apple ethering at the end. PC4LIFE son.
