The Audacity of Dope

It’s been a pretty busy/hectic last few weeks for the SNSS crew, so please pardon the delay on the archive.  This is episode #532, from August 23rd, which featured all sorts of dopeness.  New tracks from 50, Mac Miller, Mick Jenkins, Erick Sermon, Method Man, Redman, Sean Price (RIP!), King Reign, midnight, Birthday Boy & Allie, Bryson Tiller, Tom Misch, Vivian Green, The Foreign Exchange, and more.  We celebrated the anniversary of one of the best debuts ever for a double throwback, including possibly my favorite intro to a rap album ever.  It still slaps.  The homegirl Gifted Gab also stopped by to chop it up with J and spin “One In A Million” off her recent G-Sh*t EP.

The following week, we actually had to take a much deserved break from SNSS since J was under the weather and your boy International Hyph is still out in London.  Thankfully, J is well on his way back to full strength and we’ll be posting up show #533 from this past Sunday soon.  Enjoy these cuts for now!

We’re celebrating our 8 year anniversary of SNSS tonight.  That’s a lot of shows.  Lots of numbers on the boards.

Robin Thicke kinda has this lane on lock, but I’m not mad at this track from John West and Pusha T.  If you want a fun game, pretend that all of Pusha’s verses towards a girl are actually dedicated towards coke.  Sometimes they fit a little too well…

The OFWGKTA takeover continues but simply put, breaking things and acting crazy doesn’t hold my attention. Dope music, however, does. Thankfully, Pusha and Tyler provide the latter, even if there are elements of the video that seem pretty pointless but I’ll let the kids go ahead and RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE.

Pusha continues his visual assault with yet another video off Fear Of God, this time for the Nottz produced “Alone In Vegas.”  2011 is shaping up to be quite the year for Terrence.

Of all the “EEEGGGHHHHHCKK”-worthy verses on Pusha’s Fear Of God mixtape, this one might be the hardest.  The visuals do the right thing and keep it simple for this track that would make Tony Montana himself blush.

It’s great to see the homey Clipse doing big things with the whole Bizness/Kuddie Fresh crew.  I wish Stretch could be out there enjoying their success too, but hopefully he’ll get out soon.  Keep up the great work fellas…making Seattle proud.
