While I don’t anticipate ever being able to play this on Sound Session since a clean version would essentially turn in to an instrumental, this joint is dope. One of the reasons why we should be rooting for Kendrick to continue to blow up is that unlike many of the other new artists, K-Dot seems to take more chances with his music. There’s a lot of talented cats killing it right now, but not too many seem to have the ability to make a 5 mic hip-hop classic. Kendrick does. We’ll see if he’s able to reach that potential, but with the release of Section.80, he continues his ascent.
Spree tells the story behind the making of “Don’t Pass Me By,” his duet with Esthero off The Never Ending Now. If you haven’t checked out the project yet, grab it here. “Don’t Pass Me By” is one of my favorite records of the year, hands down:
It seems like when folks aren’t discussing planking on Twitter (hip-hop, you’re late to the party on that one), they’re talking Drizzy. I’ve seen negative feedback from a lot of my friends and peers for “Marvin’s Room” and “Trust Issues,” but like pretty much all of Drake’s music, I like these records.
And as emo as people want to accuse Drake of being, there’s something pretty gully about dropping the official visuals for “Marvin’s Room” right after Chris Brown released his version. Wamp waaaaaamp.
“I’m talkin’ crazy girl, I’m lucky that you picked up…”
It’s late on a Saturday night and I don’t really feel like typing. You should watch this video though.
Ok, I need a vacation stat. I’d probably choose the French Riviera over England’s, but perhaps a visit to Torquay is in order.
New music from France. They don’t dance no mo’.
The ongoing joke is that Curren$y and Wiz Khalifa are always rapping about hooking up and smoking weed with YOUR girl. Even Macklemore referenced it in “Tommy Chong” off the Blue Scholars’ new project. And what do you know, Spitta’s newest video touches on that subject (and your girl) yet again. Don’t get it twisted though, if they keep making records this dope, they can rap to my girl anytime.
I was excited to see that my frontrunner for song of the year had a video, and then completely geeked to see Frank linked up with one of the best directors out, Nabil Elderkin, for the “Novacane” visuals. Great record, dope effects, NSFW boobies, a bad ass white tiger, and…you already know…a panda. Could you ask for anything more?
The answer is, of course, yes. I would have loved to see the full song, but sometimes life slaps you back to reality rather abruptly…just to see if you can feel your face.
New visuals for the No I.D./Legendary Traxter assisted track you probably heard during Derrick Rose’s Adidas commercials throughout the playoffs. Sean’s official debut, Finally Famous: The Album, drops on June 28th. Boiiiiiiii.
