Ye got jokes. Still my favorite song of the year though!
Kenna links up with Donald Glover for his new single and video, “Relations.” Funky.
The song that everyone knows now that Drake sampled it gets its own video, though there aren’t any shots of Sampha himself, other than playing the keys. Fantastic song though. Feel free to put this on loop. Forever.
Digging this one from an artist I’m starting to hear more and more buzz around. G4SHI is a Libyan born, Brooklyn resident, whose family is from Kosovo in Albania. Be on the lookout for more from him.
Jhene and Gambino’s “Bed Peace” video is essentially an homage to John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s classic photograph and their general “peace & love” mentality. Jhene’s vocals are nice and catchy, plus the overall message is one I definitely support and will try to remember with the ongoing battle between work and life. Good to hear a more serious Gambino verse too, which may or may not hold some factual connection to his recent friendship with Jhene, if you’re into that tabloid stuff.
Now if I can just convince the label to make a clean edit for the airwaves…
First track I’ve really enjoyed from Drake’s OVO signing, PARTYNEXTDOOR. Definitely prefer when he rhymes in a more normal voice than that Future influenced warble, but I dig it. Visuals didn’t hurt either…
I assume this was filmed, at least in part, during John’s wedding to model (and surprisingly funny Twitter personality) Chrissy Teigen in Italy, since I think a few of these shots are of Lake Como (some footage at the end as well). Not to get all TMZ, but apparently John sang this to her during the wedding ceremony since it was a song he specifically wrote for her.
I’ve always thought that “Ordinary People” was a timeless, classic record that we would all look back on like some of the best work from Stevie, Marvin, etc. and while I don’t think this one is quite as strong, it’s a great ballad. I watched some of my co-workers literally cry after listening to it so I’d say it’s almost a universal favorite for the ladies.
Well played Mr. and Mrs. Stephens.
This is the jam right now. Be sure to turn it up loud so you can really hear the bass hit.
If you aren’t familiar with BANKS, you will be soon. Be sure to check out her new EP, London, right here.
LOOOOOOL…Drizzy’s been playing too much Call of Duty lately.  This song is still my ish though.
Happy #NWTS day! Â Go cop that.
The homey Mistah F.A.B. stopped by SNSS this week and as is tradition with F.A.B., he blessed the mic with a crazy freestyle off the top of his head. He completely killed it, with all sorts of Seattle references for us: his cousin Marshawn “Beast Mode” Lynch and his 3 touchdowns in the Seahawks vs. 49ers game earlier that night, Richard Sherman vs. Skip Bayless, Shawn Kemp and Gary Payton, Tha Bizness, Macklemore, and more.
Props to F.A.B. for being one of the few MC’s brave enough to spit…and murder…a legit freestyle live on air with us. Some of your favorite MC’s have declined to rhyme live with us, and even those that do rarely do it off the top. No writtens here, just improvisational skill at it’s finest.
You can download the audio of the freestyle right here – http://www62.zippyshare.com/v/69183512/file.html
And the full interview is available on the archive for SNSS #431, right here.
