There’s something about Lana’s music that’s just sexy AF.  I like a girl that’s that confident in herself and dedicated to her dude too: “love you more…than those bitches before.”  Well alright then.

Alright, last Nardwuar interview from SXSW…I just love these…and you can’t even front, they actually get the artists to reveal a little more about their history than most interviews.

Plus, this might be the best ending in a while.  “Everybody Harlem Shake!”

Bronson was one of the few artists at SXSW that I hadn’t seen perform before so I was really excited to see him rock. Aside from being a dope MC, this dude is completely hilarious on and off stage. You can get a sample of that in this video with Nardwuar.

Some folks have been wondering who’s rapping on our new SNSS intro each week, but our regular listeners should already be familiar with Homeboy Sandman.  They probably remember us playing this record too, which may be the greatest lyrical example of breaking down the creative process that I’ve ever heard.  No exaggeration.

I was already planning on posting this video of Dee-1’s SXSW adventures and then I saw footage of myself guarding him in the HoopxHang Tournament hahaha.  Let the records show that Team Hardknock dispatched Team Nola in that first round game, but on the real, chopping it up with one of my favorite new MC’s was a blast.  Much respect to Dee for his music and movement.  You’re gonna hear a lot from this dude in the near future…

Nardwuar hit a home run with all his hip-hop interviews at SXSW last year and this year was no different.  Dude was everywhere.  Here’s his clip with Kendrick Lamar, where K. Dot gives you a little insight into his history.  Love the story about his dad driving him and his mom home from the hospital for the first time and blasting Big Daddy Kane because “he has to hear this.”  Awesome.

At a photo shoot with Terry Richardson, the entire Odd Future crew started rapping along to their song as it played in the background and they ended up filming this impromptu music video.  Yeah, it’s 10 minutes…but that beat is great and each MC does his thing.  Tyler has the charisma of course, and Earl is everyone’s lyrical favorite, but I was pretty impressed by the other members as well.  Besides, you can tell they’re just genuinely having fun, kicking raps…and I love that.

We’re back from SXSW and as usual, a good time was had by all.  It would be impossible to list out everyone we ran into, but big shout to all the artists, managers, promoters, record labels, corporate sponsors, etc. that we hung out with.  It’s always fun to catch up and trade stories from the past year, even if the event as a whole certainly jumped the shark this time with all the major artists and companies getting involved.

Special shouts to Hardknock TV and The Smoking Section for organizing the 2nd Annual HoopxHang 3 on 3 basketball tournament.  Just like last year, they invited a bunch of industry cats to play some ball and this time around, I ran with Team Hardknock.  My teammates, Carl Chery from XXL and Nick Huff from Hardknock TV, and I pulled off some March Madness of our own and won the championship…plus bragging rights for the next year.  Good times and a great event overall.
