The Biggest podcast with DJ Hyphen

Posted in Interviews, Other Peoples' Interviews, Radio, Random Ish, Sound Session on September 1st, 2016 by Hyphen

Fresh off a year-long stint across the pond my bro DJ Hyphen comes through for one of my favorite episodes to date. We spend minimal time on his back story and then delve into everything that comes to our minds from Game Of Thrones to Kanye. A true convo amongst music nerds. This is what The Biggest is all about. #ItsTheBiggest

The longtime homey Miguel Rockwell recently invited me on his super dope podcast series, The Biggest, and the episode is up now for y’all to check out.  I really enjoyed this convo with Mike and his cohost Joe “HawkinsBird” Hawkins, who Mike affectionately refers to as “the most redundant man I’ve ever known.”  They’ve been recording some great conversations with all sorts of folks in the Seattle hip-hop scene, so it was an honor to sit down with them and chop it up.

There’s all sorts of random Hyphen-related trivia sprinkled in here as we completely nerd out about random topics.  This is probably the most you’ll ever hear me talk, so you’ve been warned!  Enjoy!

Stevie Crooks – Cashmere Killer LP

Posted in Artists, Mixtapes on June 16th, 2012 by MitchNW

Mitch: The day has finally come villains. Nearly eight months since his last endeavor, Stevie Crooks, quite possibly California’s most underrated/slept on rhyme spitter blesses us with his Cashmere Killer LP hosted by LRG and DJBooth.

One track in and you’ll quickly come to realize this isn’t going to be your average cookie-cutter 2012 release. Taking inspiration from the golden era of hip-hop, each track features a nostalgic 90’s feel to it. The LP consists of 13 ill cuts with the lone guest appearance from Erin Darcel, as well as one #CamoClique approved bonus track.

Stevie Crooks – The W.I.N.E.

Posted in Artists, Mixtapes on February 18th, 2011 by MitchNW

Mitch: Ok so I don’t want to get ahead of myself here, but after a couple listens I think it’s safe to say that unless we get a new Outkast album this year The W.I.N.E. (Word Is Not Enough) by Stevie Crooks is already in strong contention for project of the year (IMO)… Yes that may sound a little premature, but if you’re familiar with who I am speaking of then it may not sound that far-fetched. He’s been on a hiatus of sorts since he dropped his last project Diamonds & Guns a year ago yesterday, and during that time he’s been hard at work putting together this work of art for us. I feel like I should be sitting in an Aston Martin sipping some fine wines listening to this, not driving though, of course.
