The Audacity of Dope

The infectious “Mr. Parker” from Kardi & Nottz’ collaborative album, Allow Me To Reintroduce Myself, gets visuals as well, calling back to your high school days.  Very dope to see Kardi link up with Shi Wisdom, who’s one of the dopest up and coming singers around.  If you haven’t downloaded the project yet, grab it here!

Apologies for the delay, but here’s our backstage interview with Kendrick Lamar from KUBE 93’s Summer Jam a few weeks ago. Kendrick spoke on balancing his journey to stardom with his focus on the music, his Top Dawg Entertainment family behind the scenes, tour life, “The Recipe” and finding the right single, and his upcoming album. When “Cut You Off” came up in discussion, I had to ask him about his motivations behind that one too since it’s one of my favorite records of the last 5 years or so. All around, a very cool dude and I know we’re all rooting for him to breakthrough and have mainstream success when the next album drops.

I always preferred No Doubt’s ska sound over their pop records, but they’ve generally done an admirable job trying to merge the two.  I’m not mad at this record, but I really wanted to posted the video because Gwen Stefani is 42 years old.  Are you kidding me?  Whatever her, Nas, and Pharrell are doing, it’s downright spooky at this point.

While most of the country is out partying and enjoying the weather, Lana releases the video for “Summertime Sadness,” painting a melancholy feeling on the sunshine like only she can.  Not particularly one of my favorites from the album, but still pretty good.  The whole project is strong.
