As I was saying about Seattle hip-hop…it just doesn’t stop.

Be on the lookout for Raz’ Solomon Samuel Simone EP coming out March 19th.  This kid is killing it right now.  Peep his “Cold” video if you missed it right here.

It’s no secret that Seattle’s hip-hop scene is thriving these days and the rest of the country is rapidly taking notice of the talent we have in the town.  Macklemore is leading the way, but there’s a bevvy of artists making great music with breakout potential.  People already know about folks like Sol, The Physics, Grynch, J. Pinder, Nacho Picasso, etc., but from what I’ve heard of Raz Simone, I think it’s safe to put him on that list as well.

Here’s the video for “Cold,” a record Raz debuted on Sound Session last week from his upcoming Solomon EP.  Great stuff.

In the immortal words of Hov, “it was all good just a week ago.”  Last Monday, I was enjoying the start of my vacation with sun, soccer, and the prospect of being out of the office for a few days.  This week, it’s rainy, my vacation is over, and I’m stuck at home with a little cold.  This is where you bring up #firstworldproblems…

On the plus side, once I recover from this cold and finish the week, I’ll be starting my new day job at ESPN next Monday.  As a result of their “Rookie Camp” orientation at Bristol’s headquarters, I’ll be missing SNSS next week but J. What up, what up?  I know it’s been a minute since I’ve posted anything up, but your boy has been mad busy.  After heading down to Oregon last weekend for a basketball tournament with my 6th grade select team that I coach, I promptly caught a crazy cold that has me stuck in bed.  I fought it all last week and seemed to be doing pretty well, but when you have a nagging cold and don’t eat or sleep well all week, it usually catches up to you.  Running around from 9am – midnight every day for weeks at a time definitely got to me.  And someone please tell me why it’s still snowing in March in Seattle…wtfffff.

It’s about 11:30 on Sunday night, normally the time where J. Moore and I would be half way through Sound Session, but that’s clearly not happening.  If you’re in Seattle, you know why.  If not, click here.  It’s snowed virtually non-stop since last night, and I think we’re currently looking at about 8 inches of packed snow sitting on my deck.  In other words, ain’t nobody going nowhere tonight.

Some DJ’s might say ‘screw it,’ and leave y’all cold, dark, and clutching to a radio playing the latest travesty from Soulja Boy or Ron Browz.  Not I however.  Originally I was going to plug in my mic and record a little bootleg SNSS, but then I realized that the whole reason I’m on the air is to play good music, not to talk.  As a music lover, DJ’s who like to hear themselves talk has always been a pet peeve of mine.  So that said, I’ll stop ‘talking’ and get to the joints.

I’ve pulled together 25 songs that I would have played tonight on air if we weren’t all snowed in, put them in order, and zipped them together for you in one folder.  Just download the .rar file, extract/unzip the mp3’s (please say you have WinRAR by now…it’s almost 2009), and drop ’em into your mp3 player.  If you have any problems with this process, just contact me and I’ll help.  Contact info is at the top of the right sidebar –>
