While I don’t anticipate ever being able to play this on Sound Session since a clean version would essentially turn in to an instrumental, this joint is dope. One of the reasons why we should be rooting for Kendrick to continue to blow up is that unlike many of the other new artists, K-Dot seems to take more chances with his music. There’s a lot of talented cats killing it right now, but not too many seem to have the ability to make a 5 mic hip-hop classic. Kendrick does. We’ll see if he’s able to reach that potential, but with the release of Section.80, he continues his ascent.
Ahhh…still in that LA state of mind. It helps that Nipsey’s rooftop shots here were filmed right next to the LA Convention Center and the LA Live complex, where I spent most of my trip. This beat is kinda epic too…
While I was down in Los Angeles this past week for E3, it made me remember my college days down there and I can’t front, I miss that SoCal vibe from time to time. Thankfully, there are videos like this one from Dom’s upcoming West$ide II project to help me reminisce.
Pretty fresh and I’m a sucker for anything shot in Paris. It’s also a great record as the weather finally starts to turn here in Seattle. There’s not a city in the world that’s nicer than the 206 when the sun’s out…

The homey David Dallas is gearing up for his Duck Down assisted assault on the North American market after conquering his homeland, New Zealand, and he’s just released the visuals for “Caught In A Daze” with Freddie Gibbs. While the video is a fairly quick viral joint, and the song itself isn’t as long as I wish it was, I love the vibe of this record. Dope beat and heartfelt lyrics about Bam’s homeland that can be found on his mixtape with DJ Muggs, Los Angeles, Philippines.
My strategy is to keep the circle to a minimum. That way, I never even have to worry about cutting you off. But in case you get too close and I need theme music, Kendrick provides it nicely.
Video doesn’t do much for me, but this record is dope. Snoop’s flooded the net with these viral videos recently and while it’s a good way to stay top of mind, I’d rather see a few higher budget clips rather than the WSHH style joints. We do get our first look at Snoop’s 15 year old signing, Pilot, though it’s too early to judge his ability. The voice is unique though, which can help.
