I’m going to spend some time this week putting together our “Best Of 2011” wrap up show and this track from the DMV crew, Gods’illa, was already on my radar. We’ll see next Sunday if the visuals help solidify it’s status…
Visuals off of one of my favorite projects from the Northwest over the past few years, The Good Sin’s collaboration with 10.4 Rog, Late. I’m was worried I might be spotted in one of those pictures, but then I realized a real life Hyphen has never been caught on film in the wild. Real ninjas move in silence.
I didn’t think I’d like this, but they won me over with a few of the lines (“I’m Wale’s secret Santa” and Drake’s intonation on “liiiIIIIIIFE!”) and a few impressions in particular (Big Sean, Beyonce, J. Cole, Kreayshawn, Birdman, Drake, and Wyclef). J. Cole receiving a basketball as a gift was golden too. Pretty good stuff overall.

I meant to post this soon after it happened, but better late than never…especially for those of you who don’t follow soccer and may have missed Robin van Persie’s game winning volley for Arsenal vs. Everton. You’ll notice that US National Team goalkeeper, Tim Howard, doesn’t even move, knowing that if RvP connected as he planned, he didn’t stand a chance. What a beautiful pass from Song too. Fabregas-esque.

Aw man…when I saw this picture, I didn’t think it was actually going to be the attire for the “Motto” video…amazing hahaha. In any event, the song is dope…actually, amend that: the beat, hook, and Drizzy’s verse are dope. I’m not sure why Tyga was invited to the party, other than to help continue raising his buzz, which is actually starting to increase these days. Wayne…I don’t even know where to start. Let’s just say his appearances remind me more and more of this every day:

The Cafeteria Line drops a fresh video for one of my favorite songs of the year, TiRon & Ayomari’s “All My Love.” Yummy Bingham though. That girl at the end though!
It doesn’t look like Lupe had anything to do with the creation of this video for “Double Burger With Cheese,” but whoever spliced together all these clips of Juice, Menace II Society, Boyz N The Hood, New Jersey Drive, Dead Presidents, Sugar Hill, New Jack City, Colors, and more did an excellent job. Would have liked to hear and see an Above The Rim reference, but other than that, flawless.

Freddie’s ode to the West Coast…the best coast…off Cold Day In Hell gets some nice visuals featuring producer/crooner Polyester and Dom Kennedy, who really epitomizes the current iteration of the west coast G sound. Definitely a smooth record that makes any of us stuck in the cold northwest region pine for that LA weather.
