Omar Aura – Balla (video)

Posted in Artists, Music Videos on February 10th, 2012 by Hyphen

Ever since I was a kid, one of the first things I’ve done in every city I visit is find the nearest basketball court. Even if I don’t end up getting out on that court, just seeing it instantly gives you a little connection with your new surroundings. For those of us who have played ball our entire lives, I know y’all can relate.

In his new video, Omar Aura shows us a little glimpse of that life in his hometown of Fresno, CA. This track will be available on his upcoming project, Auradon Sessions, dropping March 6th.  Seattle people: Omar told me he just did a record with Grynch for the project, so be on the lookout for that.  Everything he’s released has been dope so far and with tracks like this one, I’m sure that will continue…

The Physics – These Moments (video)

Posted in Artists, Music Videos on August 20th, 2011 by Hyphen

“If you don’t see me, I’m gone/
Might be in the wind on my own/
And if I’m movin’ too fast/
It’s cause these moments won’t last”

I’m pretty ashamed that the video for The Physics’ “These Moments” has been out for weeks and I haven’t tossed it on TAOD yet.  Better late than never though!

If you aren’t up on the Physics, clearly you don’t come here often or listen to SNSS.  These guys make my favorite music from the Northwest and their new album, Love Is A Business, is yet another testament to their abilities.  Get familiar with all their music here and STOP SLEEPING.

Here’s another taste of one of my favorite tracks on LIAB:

Grynch ft. Sol – All I Wanna Do (video)

Posted in Artists, Music Videos on July 23rd, 2011 by Hyphen

Grown up #hyphlife makes it tough to keep up with all the dope content I want to toss on the bloggy blogg, so I depend on the weekends to catch up. This video for Grynch and Sol’s “All I Wanna Do” dropped a few weeks ago, but if you’re not up on our burgeoning scene here in Seattle, you may not have seen it yet. Well, sleep no more…and relive your college days with a good ol’ fashioned Seattle style house party.

Wizdom & Grynch – Got Ya Numb (video)

Posted in Artists, Music Videos on May 22nd, 2010 by Hyphen

You saw the behind the scenes, now peep the full visuals.  MTK really killed this beat…so much so that I’m willing to overlook all the silly faces and drum fingers he’s flossing throughout the video.  *WizDance*

Sound Session #257 (5-2-10)

Posted in Episodes, Interviews, Sound Session on May 4th, 2010 by Hyphen

This week’s SNSS was one of my favorites in quite some time.  We were joined in studio by Grynch, DJ Nphared, and Marcus D, plus we had Substantial and Oddisee call in from the East Coast.  All are dope musicians and good people, so it’s always a pleasure to chop it up with them.  Additionally, we played a ton of great music (well, what’s new) from some of our favorite artists.  Here’s my quick 2 cents on a few of the records:

  • B.o.B & Lupe – can’t wait to see these guys at the Showbox Sodo on Friday
  • N.E.R.D. – I still insist there is no better job in music than being Pharrell
  • M.I.A. – I can’t hear this record without breaking something.  Uber hard.
  • Shad – there’s nobody in the game that makes me rewind for lyrics more than Shad K.  TSOL drops May 25th!
  • Kendrick Lamar – the definition of “spazzing” on a beat
  • Tunji – reminds me of “Paris, Tokyo” in a way…
  • J. Cole – I really wish they woulda left the b-word in the chorus for the radio edit. You can say that these days!
  • Donnis – This record is a sleeping giant. Isn’t Donnis working with Atlantic now? Why aren’t they pushing this? Smash hook.
  • Eminem – Lyrics/flow are insane, as usual, but shoulda got Drake for that chorus. Don’t laugh, it’s true.
  • Public Enemy – Arizona took another L this week, so we thought we’d remind them
  • Nas & Damian Marley – this might be the best album of the year when it’s all said and done
  • Drake – I love this record…and my Jansport still fits!  Imagine that.

Enjoy!

  1. B.o.B – “Fame”
  2. Lupe Fiasco ft. Alicia Keys – “Love Letter To The Beat”

  4. M.I.A. – “Born Free”
